Vader gets a ride from West Coast Customs!

With the  popularity of the Star Wars - Volkswagen campaign, West Coast Customs was tasked with designing a cool Star Wars car out of a VW. Thankfully Ryan Friedlinghaus is a huge Star Wars fan and I happen to work at ILM and am a big car / VW fan. So I had the great chance to have some input into the design and details. Based on a 2012 U.S. built VW Passat it's an impressive sight. I can't say much more than that, other than it's a great car packed with cool details. For more, keep an eye out for the full episode of Inside West Coast Customs on April 15th on Velocity channel for all the details. Got to hang out and have lunch with the gang during the reveal at ILM . Thanks to Ryan and the WCC crew for letting us be a part, namely John Goodson, Greg Grusby, Thang Le and John Bell.
just another day on the job :)

best TED talk ever!

Check out a TED talk from the future.
No, I didn't work on it, but as a fan of the older franchise it's awesome to see this level of sophistication be brought back to it by Ridley! can't wait!

Nuthin' but Mech Book!

Ok I guess this broke cover well before I thought, so I'm pleased to announce that there is a new book in the works that I've had the pleasure to be a part of. Lorin Wood, creator of the blog Nuthin' but Mech has gathered together many artists of various disciplins to create a compilation art book of, well nothin' but mech! I have designed and illustrated several new mechs just for this book, never seen anywhere else. It will debut for this years San Diego Comic Con (July 15th 2012) through Scott Robertson's Design Studio Press and is actually available for pre-order via Amazon right now! So reserve your copy for a great price now and spread the word on what will prove to be a very unique compilation art book on all things mech!
As the publisher releases images we'll post them to tease you, but for now here's the working cover image by Ben Mauro.
Thanks and spread the word 'above and beyond'!

Easter egg interview from Star Trek: First Contact

Someone let me know this popped up on youtube. It's on the special edition DVD of First Contact that came out a few years back. So enjoy it here or if you have the DVD you kinda have to dig around for it.

Also in new news, I recently finished a series of images for release at comic con, more on that as it gets closer to release.

Also both Paramount and Michael Bay have paid for special spots on Transformers 3 focusing on the Oscar nominations for sound and Visual Effects. Enjoy these as well while I whip up some new art to share here.
cheers!
